Chrome keyboard issues

Ctrl+Alt+4 gives ¤ instead of $ on Norwegian keyboard

I tried this on a textarea in the same page and it gave the correct $.

The problem would happen if only shift modifier was retained and not ctrl modifier.

I haven't figured out why yet but I am looking at the code.

I will submit a pull request if I figure it out.

This is only a problem in Chrome. It works in Firefox.

Also, Ctrl+F and Ctrl+B are not working in Chrome, but are working in Firefox.
