Preferably use draw.io and use images for parts, rather than a traditional circuit diagram- this way its easier for not-super-technical people to maybe follow it. I would add this information to Box, not the repo- we wouldn't want people downloading the bom or diagram when just wanting to run the software. BOM ideally can include descriptions for each part, and while we normally do granularity to the amount of velcro /glue needed to assemble- for this one we are mainly concerned about the electronics, battery, solar, and wiring to aide in the design of a custom enclosure.
