Breaks backend functionality e.g. when adding Widget Layout Updates

When working on Widgets > Storefront Properties > Layout Updates having the Debug Tools installed breaks the select fields in the Layout Updates form. It is still possible to select a page but the container select field is not there anymore. Disabling the Debug module fixed the problem.
The attached screenshot shows the form in the fixed state.
