Seeing as there are no issues opened for discussing an IFC implementation for geological ground models, I will start one here.
Our geotechnical engineers are currently exporting ground models in leapfrog using a bespoke IFC converter. It treats the ground mesh as a "building element proxy" and different subterranean layers as "building names". This works but is not a appropriate long term solution, so I want to open discussion for a new branch of IFC for defining ground models.
