how to disable self shadows without shadows going through

Hi, I am trying to disable self shadows for an object without having the shadows of other objects go through it.

see here where the sphere has a shadow on the cube but it sphere shadow also appears behind the cube

I don't understand your question. Casting shadows will pass through the object and appear on both the front and back sides; this is a known limitation.
