Scrollbar not showing (and/or incorrectly calculated with open keyboard)

When you have a note that is scrollable, then there is no scrollbar at all shown.

A bit offtopic for now, but still related:
I tried a local recompile with enabled scrollbar and noticed another issue with it.
When the scrollbar is shown and they keyboard gets opened, the size of the scrollbar is incorrect.

It ends at the keyboard, which is correct behaviour, but it ends way too early, because its size is way too big for the smaller screen.
This suggests, that somehow it still thinks the entire screen is available and therefore scales the scrollbar incorrectly.

I don't think that's a bug. I've looked at some other note-taking apps, and they don't show scroll bars either. (See the screenshot from Notally.)

I tried many too, before i found leafpad on fdroid.
As far i remember notally is the only one with deactivated scrollbar, but i could be mislead...

It is just a bug so far, if you didn't deactivate it on purpose.
Your app, your decision.

Personally i like a scrollbar, that is why i tried to activate and when i did, i had this issue with the keyboard.
Guess something in the layout or some inits, which are done later, might lead to the wrong size of it.

I'll leave the ticket open for now, and once I've finished the database migration and the data migration from Sharedprefs is running smoothly, I'll take a look at it. As I mentioned, I've used several apps as references and inspiration, and none of them have scrollbars. I'll check it out.

It looks like this for me, when i did enable it over a recompile.

The first two screenshots show the scrollbar didn't reach the keyboard yet:

The next two screenshots show the scrollbar reached the keyboard and from now on there is no change anymore:

There is even way more below in that note.
When the keyboard isn't on screen the scrollbar works as expected.
Maybe i need to add, that i activated the scrollbar over the parent layout (Nestedviewscroll) and not for the individual textfields, because the textfields are always fully shown.
Anyway something is leading to the wrong size of the scrollbar, probably it is a timing issue, because logs have shown, that the content part keeps its size, as it should be, and only the "Nestedviewscroll" changes its size (Getting smaller around the size of the keyboard), which also looks fine to me. It just seems to somehow mess with the calculation of the scrollbar size, so that in the end it is too big.

The problem seems to be both EdgeToEdge.enable(this); and ViewCompat.setOnApplyWindowInsetsListener.
When one of both is there, it is broken.

When both are there, the behaviour is that of the screenshots.
When only one of them is there, the scrollbar has more or less the right size, but moves below the keyboard, which is also a wrong behaviour.
When none of them are there, the scrollbar works correctly.

I understand why you are using the combo, so having both ofc. totally makes sense.

I used the ViewCompat.setOnApplyWindowInsetsListener on the real root node now (View root = findViewById(R.id.all);).
This has fixed the issue for me.
