Our current index server implementation used to have a verison checking for each package, using an API endpoint. We removed this as a way to backlog creating an API.
We need to eventually add this back to our index server as it would be helpful to non-experienced users, we don't need to make any API documentation as these endpoints should only be used within our development ecosystem.
