Ore textures coloring are confusing

Explain issue in detail:
Bauxite ore use a flat strong red color which is quite confusing with vanilla Redstone.
Tin ore is a bit too greenish compared to usual mods.
Copper is lighter but ok.
Lead is fairly dark, confusing with vanilla coal.

Tin is green to match real life and to separate it out from other silvery ores.

Lead is setup to match the real version. Making it silver colored makes it harder to pick out from other ores. Its different enough to not match coal.

Copper is honestly not that different and is really just a result of the grey scale application.

Bauxite and Lead are currently mostly single taint. We could have less brighter red with some orange touch for Bauxite. And a bit more blue touch to Lead.
Tin still feels too bright.

Thinking of it, that doesn't seem right to have only 'traces' of ores over stone block. Would a connected texture make it more interesting and realistic?

I would love to add connected textures but there are other features to implement first :P

Anyways I will work on changing lead and bauxite. Honestly, was going to wait until I implemented a more greg tech ore system. In which you get mixed ores that would look very different from vanilla. Since I don't have time for this a slightly blue lead and orange bauxite would work.

Also not changing tin, I like the way it looks. The odd green tinge makes it stand out from other mods. Which is something I want as most mods use similar colors making ores very confusing.

Any existing support for UBC/GT style ores? i.e. overlaying the ore traces texture above various stone textures

not sure what you mean by that? Though we could easily do overlays for textures now that I understand ISBRs well. However, I have a better idea to bake textures to improve render time.

I've 15 different base blocks: 5x stone, 5x granite, 5x sandy. Each can have various ores in them: Iron, Gold, Copper, etc.
The mod is provided with the transparent overlay of each ore and the plain background of each base block.
Ideally, resulting textures are pre-calculated during boot time. Worst case, a static render of both textures is done in-game.

The hard part comes when you've animated ore textures, but honestly, connected textures are more interesting at this point.

We have a lot of options in the future for how to display ores. Connected textures could add for interesting results if not handled like classic connected textures. Instead via generated connections so when broken it keeps its state.

As for the transparent overlay, ya we can do that via an ISBR in 1.7 easily. After 1.7 this can be done with he model system just as easily. What I want to do is use a simple trick to merge the textures together. We shouldn't need to worry about animations but it wouldn't be hard to handle. The main issue is Block ids at this point but I have a very nice solution for that. Which will make greg jelly as it doesn't use TE but provides 30K+ meta values. Will talk about it later when it get it working :)
