The new preprint https://arxiv.org/abs/2608.19869 shows that Marton’s inner bound is not optimal in general, so the current frontier/progress section should be updated.
It may also be worth highlighting the remaining binary-input question as a sharper subproblem. @yanxiaoliu-mike, please correct me if I am mischaracterizing the result or remaining frontier.
