Could you tell me how did your project end?
Did you finally decode the I2C bus?

I spent a little time looking at this data, and a pattern emerged:

All transactions take this form:
Start, Write 3+ bytes, Restart, Read 2+ bytes, Stop

* Write section *
Header:
-) 2 byte register address (MSB first)
-) 1 byte read or write data length (see "n bytes" below)
-) Continue with write data, or jump to read data

Write data:
-) n bytes of write data
-) 1 byte write data xsum: XOR addr<<1, Header, and write data
-) Continue with read data

* Read section *
Read data:
-) 1 byte starting xsum: 0x5A
-) n bytes of read data (no bytes to ACK write)
-) 1 byte read data xsum: XOR starting xsum and read data

I can also confirm that the ACE Salt Water Sanitizing System responds to I2C address 0x2E.

Hi @Max101, if you're still interested, I've also worked on reverse-engineering the IQ2020 protocol. I got pretty far figuring out what's going on between the microcontrollers on the controller but ended up getting a hold of an 'official' RF remote to analyze. From that I was able to put together an ESP8266+Arduino to control it.
