StepScribe v1.0.0-beta

AI-Powered Recovery Journaling — Private, Local, Free

StepScribe is a desktop journaling app for people in recovery. It pairs a beautiful rich text editor with an AI sponsor that remembers your story.

What's New in This Build

Your Faith, Your Way

Like AA, StepScribe does not dictate a higher power. You describe your faith, spiritual tradition, or philosophy in your own words during setup. Your AI companion adapts to speak in a way that resonates with you — whatever that looks like.

Your Heroes

No pre-filled hero lists. You add the people whose character you want to emulate — mentors, authors, spiritual figures, philosophers, family members, anyone who inspires you.

Recommended AI Model

The setup now recommends Psychologist by ALIENTELLIGENCE as the default local model — designed for therapeutic-style conversations and mental health context.

Features

  • Rich Journal Editor — Bold, italic, headings, lists, blockquotes, voice dictation, file attachments
  • AI That Remembers — Persistent memory across all sessions. Your AI learns your story and never forgets
  • 12 Guided Prompts — Morning reflection, step work, resentment inventory, gratitude, and more
  • Inner Weather — Track your mood with 16 poetic states, energy levels, and trend visualization
  • Heroes & Wisdom — Add your own heroes. Their wisdom weaves into your AI conversations
  • Faith & Tradition — Describe your beliefs in your own words. The AI respects and adapts
  • Export Your Story — Markdown book export, JSON backup and restore
  • Complete Privacy — Runs 100% on your computer. No cloud, no telemetry, no accounts

System Requirements

StepScribe App

  • macOS 11+ (Apple Silicon & Intel), Windows 10+, or Linux (Ubuntu 20.04+)
