You could think about integrating Apache Arrow as the backend for data processing and format support.

Apache Arrow is well-maintained, contains C++ bindings and is well documented.

Apache Arrow (C++) is already part of nixpkgs: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/blob/nixos-26.05/pkgs/by-name/ar/arrow-cpp/package.nix
