System frozen stuck on starting server

We were just normally playing (modded fabric 1.21.9) when the game disconnected. We looked on the dashboard and the server is stuck in this intermediate state:

• we cannot start or stop the server
• we cannot backup the world
• we cannot download the world folder by hand from the file manager

Even letting it rest overnight didn't solve the issue

Any ideas on how to fix?
