Large wait between downloads.

Thanks for this nice tool. Cutrently i have a prpblem getting bigger.

On my system, there is a large gap between two downloads.. by now i have more than 100 records pending. One file takes around 10 seconds then 1 Minute nothing, then the next file. It may be because it rereads the filelist on before every download. Could also be caused by the rescan of the archive after every download. I already disabled the instant gps extract post download which makes the wait time at least 5 seconds shorter... I think it should push those updates into a background task and start downloading the next file right after finishing a download.

What camera model, host hardware and storage are you using?

I’ve added some more post-download logging to the robxyz/viofosync:dev image. Could you try running that and paste the logs?

Storage is SMB, host has 8Cores/16GB.
i have now rebuild the container with the :dev image.

(its downloading slower today as the car is parket a bit away from the wifi)

The pause between downloads seems smaller today.. but still around ~30seconds.

Is your config on smb too? If so try moving it to localhost.

nope. just checked. the /config folder is on local storage - there also is a viofosync.db with around 10MB

It looks like the camera is struggling to serve the file list, perhaps overheating.

The first file listing is normal at 1.3s then shoots up to 39.6s. As comparison, my A229 Pro takes about 3s mid-cycle but it’s only listing about 2,500 clips vs your 4,300+.

I will have a think but probably the best approach is to throttle the file listing so it’s not running every single time when you're downloading short parking clips.

It would be interesting to know if you pause recording whether it speeds things up.

Is there a way to pause recording when viofosync starts syncing? the A229 plus has no geofence as far as i can tell from going through the menus

Not at the moment. The official Viofo geofence option turns off the camera completely, so unfortunately it isn't useful for this application.

Recording control isn’t automated in Viofosync yet, but I’m currently testing it. The risk is that the car might drive away while recording is stopped.

If you refresh the dev image, you’ll see a new option under the Camera tab to manually stop and start recording so you can test if it helps with your issue.
