[UI improvement] visible back button

Is it possible to consistently have a visible back button on the UI on Android mobile?

mainly for tablet where the Android navigation buttons are hidden after a period of time. I need to swipe up to bring back the back button so I can navigate on the app, which is kind of annoying.

Implemented and will ship in v1.9.8.

The feature

Landed in #135 (merged to main). A persistent, visible back button in the top-start corner of deep screens, so the Android gesture-navigation nav bar auto-hiding doesn't leave you stranded.

Rendered as a 40 dp translucent circular IconButton with the standard material ArrowBack icon, properly inset from the status bar. Added to:

• DetailsScreen (mobile layout only)
• SettingsScreen
• SearchScreen
• WatchlistScreen

Gated on LocalDeviceType.current == DeviceType.PHONE — no-ops on tablet and TV, so there's zero visual change there. HomeScreen is excluded because it's the app root. PlayerScreen is excluded because it has its own dedicated close UI and a floating button over the video would be noisy.

Testing

Please verify on v1.9.8 on your Android tablet (though the button will only actually render on phones — on tablets the component early-returns, so tablets should see no change at all):

1. Navigate to Details, Settings, Search, or Watchlist on a phone.
2. Confirm a small back button is visible in the top-start corner.
3. Let the nav bar auto-hide and confirm the in-app back button is still visible and clickable.
4. On a tablet, confirm no new button appears anywhere (the component deliberately no-ops on tablets because you have the nav bar room).

Note: you mentioned in your report that this was mainly a tablet issue because the nav bar auto-hides there. I initially scoped the button to phone-only per the usual Android convention, but if you'd prefer it to also show on tablets, please leave a reply or open a new issue and I can flip the gate from == PHONE to .isTouchDevice() — that's a one-line change.

Thanks for the implementation. I don't use on Android phone. I can only tell what happens on my tablet. The nav bar auto hides there, including in the player, which I think it could also use a back button on the top left or right.
