Game won't compile on Linux due to VLC error

When I try compiling the source code the terminal outputs this:

source/vlc/MP4Handler.hx:5: characters 8-28 : Type not found : vlc.bitmap.VlcBitmap
source/vlc/MP4Handler.hx:11: characters 26-35 : Type not found : VlcBitmap

I would assume I need to install something to get the VLC Bitmap but I'm unsure how to.

I have this same issue, I have reinstalled Haxe and all of the dependencies but I keep getting the same error.

developer will ignore most bug reports + duplicate of many issues from github repos involving this issue.
