Future work

I intend to find some time soon to work a bit on the library. I plan on working on:

• Adding new formats: SSA/ASS, VTT, and maybe TTML.
• Restructuring how timing is handled. Currently, the timing in each subtitle is either measured in frames or as time. I would like this to be unified, which may be difficult if FPS is not known beforehand. It will require some more brainstorming.
• Separating styling from text. I would like to change the way intermediate subtitle representation stores text styling so that it can be properly converted between different subtitle formats (e.g. SSA handles styling differently from SRT).
• More tests with different edge cases covered.

I would appreciate feedback on this, @MasterMind2k . Some of this would likely heavily change the architecture and the API.

On that note, does putting effort into this still make sense with the Podnapisi.NET website seemingly unaccessible? Is it over or are you planning on bringing it back?

Timing is very tied to subtitle format. MicroDVD format has frames but does not have fps information. It could have timing in seconds, but the API must enforce the fps to be provided by the caller of API.

Styling is supported by YAML format, i only did not implement the API for it. But underlying format should support various metadata tags.
