Research documentation patterns from established open-source projects #49

Description

Question

Which documentation structures and practices from widely used open-source desktop and self-hosted projects should OpenFrag adopt for v1?

Research only primary project sources. Compare at least five established projects with relevant strengths such as clear landing pages, task-oriented installation, architecture and security explanations, troubleshooting, contributor guidance, release notes, support matrices, and licensing or third-party notices.

Create one cited Markdown research note in the repository. For every practice, record the source, why it works, whether it fits OpenFrag, and the exact OpenFrag document or section it should influence. Do not copy project prose. Extract structure and technique.

The output must cover README hierarchy, first-run path, installation by channel, privacy and local-only claims, system requirements, Doctor and troubleshooting, architecture, security and trust boundaries, development and testing, contributing, release notes, support evidence, GPL source availability, fork provenance, and third-party notices.
