Should we have a single tap into the forecast?

Right now a tap on a zone loads the forecast area then you need to tap again to get into the zone. Getting feedback that it should be a single click into the zone. I mostly agree

That's interesting. Do the testers feel like it should be a single tap all the time to go to the forecast?

That interaction where a zone needs to be tapped on twice is what we have in production. I think if we change how this works, it should work the same for both tapping on a zone from the centerless experience and tapping on a zone when you're in the center focused experience.

Oh right right because it pulls up the card. I know forecasters want people to read the forecast not just look at the color. But it's worth investigating why we went this direction initially.

I can get a dev version on Android out where it goes straight to the forecast just to play around with it.

My guess for why it was done the way it is now is that it makes the user intention very clear. They first have to have the zone selected and then make an additional tap to go the forecast showing that they're more interested in seeing more information instead of just poking around the AC (maybe to see super high level info like the name). I could see this being done to try to mimic what's going on a web where the mouse hover shows the high level info, but on mobile we can't rely on the hover functionality.
