Data publisher wants to provide subjects and keywords regarding a range of aspects of the dataset, such as the type of material studied, the type of study done, and the scientific domain it falls under.
Data consumer can more easily identify datasets related to certain subjects of interest.
Requirement / Use Case
The data publisher and data consumer can select controlled terms when submitting and searching for data.

Additional context
Examples in Zenodo are the EuroSciVoc, MeSH and GEMET taxonomies which lack the required coverage of materials science subjects. Although some terms are covered, they are spread between different taxonomies.
There is some overlap with the other issues but I see these terms to be more high level, but also likely to be more widely used, e.g. type of material rather than a specific material.
