Whisper Vision OS Xcode build fails

When trying to use the plugin for vision os i get this error in Xcode

Building for 'visionOS', but linking in object file (/Users/chris/Desktop/buildwhisper/Libraries/com.whisper.unity/Plugins/iOS/libggml-metal.a[arm64]2) built for 'iOS'

XCode 16.4
Unity 6
Polyspatial 2.4.3

any idea ?

I also ran into this situation and I am happy to share what I have found and a fix to unblock you, unfortunately, it does not look like a long term solution.

It looks like around Unity 6000.1, I am not sure of the exact version, Unity stopped including the linker flag “-ld_classic” for the UnityFramework.

You can add this flag manually in Xcode by selecting “Unity-VisionOS” in the “Project Navigator” on the left side of Xcode and then by selecting “UnityFramework”->”Build Settings” and then adding the value “-Wl,-ld_classic” to “Other Linker Flags”.

The -ld_classic flag causes Xcode to use the classic linker and Apple has deprecated this feature. Looks like you can use the -ld64 flag as well but we use -ld_classic just fine on our project. But because the classic linker is deprecated is why we do not view this as a long term solution.

I did some quick exploration so I am not 100% sure this is the ideal solution but it looks like Apple has the intention that these affected items are recompiled specifically for VisionOS.

One other helpful thing is that you can automate injecting that flag back into the UnityFramework in Xcode by using Unity’s PostProcessBuildAttribute and PBXProject.
