640x80 Not able to import sprite correctly/displayed incorrectly

Hey! I'm not sure if you remember me but about 1-2 years ago i was asking for a bug fix because a fossil fighters sprite wasn't loading well. I'm so delighted you are still working hard on this program! I've been still working hard this whole time and this image i've tried to ignore for awihle but im in the final parts of my project so i kinda can't. Anyways for starters this is what the original image looks like

however in nitro paint it always loads like this and when i import a new image in the same dimensions to it- it still ends up pretty similar to this.

This looks like it might be tricky, since this isn't a valid hardware BG size. It gets tricky because the arrangement of BG screen data becomes different depending on the type of BG (whether text or affine extended), with text BGs having their data arranged in a pattern of sub-blocks of 32x32 screen tiles. For irregular (non-valid hardware BG sizes), NP is reading their BG screen data in a way compatible with the way programs like NITRO-CHARACTER will arrange the data.

That is to also say I haven't looked at these files concretely, but is my best guess visually as to what's going on. I'll probably be able to take a look in the coming days to see if I can find any solution to this, but my instinct is to say that this may not be cleanly fixed, maybe without having an in-editor way to specify the arrangement of BG screen data more manually.

I can see the first 50 or so files in this folder, though not the ones you show in the screenshot. From what I can gather from the files in the drive though, it looks like the files all have an incorrect header reporting them being 8 bits-per-pixel when they're really 4 bit depth.

Also for what your saying are you saying the file is decompiled wrong to 8 bit or the nitro paint software is reading it as 8 bit

Looking at the files on my own, it seems that the files are reflecting a BG type that is not stored in the file. To correct them, you may change the BG screen format field (offset 1E) in the file to 02. I may possibly add a way to change the BG screen format interpretation, but for now at least this allows the file to display as I might expect to see it.

I saw you update the application! is it fixed? I'm a little late soryy- some fires were near my house. Anyways just let me know and ill try your method soon or if i don't need to do anything special with the new version thats cool too
