OpenAPI (version 3) is gaining quite a bit of popularity as a machine-readable interface documentation specification. Conversely, the WADL required by the Commonalities spec is antiquated with very little apparent (contemporary) usage.
OpenAPI v3, or later, could be a recommendation in a future Commonalities specification, or eventually replace WADL usage in a future major version revision.
