We will absolutely need a pathway in the code to infer instrument-specific metadata if no metafits is present (essentially everything besides the MWA). Ruby is currently trying to run LWA, and thus it fails really quickly.
This should be pretty straightforward to implement, but it would be good to know the best organisational strategy. Should this be an instrument class? It would be good to know what pyuvdata does in this regard.
