Translating Discord messenger to other languages

The title is self-explanatory, perhaps the community could make the translations?

I'm not sure how hard it'd be to do so, but implementing .JSON files for the translations would be pretty helpful. We'd be able to translate the program way more easily, and we could also add the translations to our own instance for testing before we send 'em out.

Well usually apps like this rely on resource files (*.rc), and can be imported compiled into the app — and once the OS detects that the system language is German, it could be recalled and loaded. Thats how i heard it can function

But it might be difficult to check the translations on the fly — since you'd need to edit, recompile and check again. That would be exhausting and time-consuming

Also the compatibility with unicode characters might make it difficult

Technically this isn't required, we can just use Windows' built-in APIs for translation. .rc files can support multiple languages. But I'm not sure how you could dynamically switch between them

I actually thought about doing this in my free time. Making a Hungarian translation for the app. Tho not in a selection box, just overwriting the exe and saving it as a new one. Not sure if Hungarian would be useful for you tho.

Also imma wait for 1.11 first as it fixes a lot of bugs that are annyoing (supposedly.) (for iprogramincpp: take your time, im not going to rush you)

GetUserDefaultUILanguage() could make it work probably - it would send the OS's system-wide language and the messenger would load the language based off that value returned.
But at the same time it would be better to keep that functionality for versions pre-2000

So we can give the user a list of detected translation DLLs to choose from manually, and (if available) the option to auto-detect the system language.

We could just embed every translation into the .rc file for now, as there are only going to be a few. If there are too many, then we can think about splitting them away.

Hence why I suggested .json, since most programs I've seen that use that system don't need to restart the entire program to apply the new language, and can do so dynamically. I assume there's a way to do so too with rc files?

I probably will require a restart regardless of the option - not restarting the program would lead to an incomplete application of the new language unless I specifically write in a case for every control which stores text without recomputing it each time it's requested, and I'd rather be safe. And restarting isn't too much of a chore seeing as DM starts in a couple seconds on a mid-2000s PC.
