Portfolio polish: tighten README caveats, unique project voice, and quickstart reliability #12

Description

@CoreyLeath-code

This issue tracks the highest-impact portfolio improvements called out by a senior engineer review.

Goals:

  • Close the remaining “pending” items that appear in README caveats (coverage targets, model evals, security results, Docker image sizes where applicable).
  • Add a short project-specific paragraph to distinguish the design trade-offs, failure modes, or hardest engineering decision for this repo.
  • Make sure the main README surfaces the most important numbers up front, not only in daily logs or metrics docs.
  • Verify the quickstart works from a clean clone and update any instructions that are stale or incomplete.
  • Fix small polish issues such as typos and filename/structure inconsistencies.

Suggested acceptance criteria:

  • README has a concise top section with the core story, key metrics, and current status.
  • Any "pending" checklist items are either closed or clearly scoped with a reason and next step.
  • Quickstart succeeds from a clean environment.
  • Repo naming, filenames, and headings are consistent.

This repo was selected because it is one of the flagship portfolio projects and will benefit most from these improvements first.
