Embed other markdown files

Hi.

To avoid having to manage duplicate content in various places, it would be great to be able to import other markdown files into one markdown file.

Is there a way this can be done using remarkable-embed?
And if so: how?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, sorry I only just saw this issue!

There hasn't been much development going on with remarkable-embed lately, but i plan on doing some updates for the new(-ish) version 2 of remarkable, so any feature requests are greatly appreciated

remarkable-embed is currently just a bridge between remarkable and any custom content that you want to include (it does include example plugins for youtube and codepen content, though the intention there is to get you started making your own)

Remarkable plugins are synchronous, which means that there are certain things that you wouldn't be able to do; if you're running it in a browser, you'd need the other content to have been loaded beforehand (e.g. fetch the other markdown files and write a plugin that maps the selector to the pre-fetched content). If you were running it on the server, you could do a sync fs.read{...} within your plugin, or pre-load the other files.

One thing to note is that the Remarkable docs on rendering do caution against recursively invoking the renderer (executing a new render from within the render stage of a plugin), but I can see a good use-case for linking multiple files together this way

If you come up with any solutions, feel free to post them here - it's an interesting idea, so I might look at building something similar as an example for the V2-compatible version of this library
