Background

The 2026 start box had mechanical and visual-recognition problems. Teams need canonical, testable reference specifications early enough to prepare and validate their vehicles before the event.

Agreed direction

• Publish clear start-box sketches and a reference video.
• Define dimensions and opening behavior.
• Define the QR-code specification, including the required quiet zone and relevant visibility constraints.
• Consider providing a reusable 3D model for testing and simulation.

Scope

• document dimensions, opening behavior, timing, and relevant tolerances;
• document QR-code placement, quiet zone, border, and visibility requirements;
• publish canonical drawings and a reference video;
• define stable source and download locations;
• provide a 3D model if it can be maintained as canonical reference material.

Acceptance criteria

• Canonical start-box dimensions and behavior are documented.
• Start-box drawings and a reference video are published and linked.
• QR-code quiet-zone and visibility requirements are documented.
• Reference files have stable names and locations.
• Any optional 3D model is clearly marked as reference material.
