1.69 Touch Device reboots when using touch screen after being idle for a few minutes

[EDIT] - Additionally, I tested the controller with the latest firmware and the issue is consistently present there.

Out of curiosity, I also tested firmware version 2.0.1.2, and on that version the problem does not occur at all. The controller can remain idle for several minutes, and changing presets afterwards works normally without freezing or rebooting.

This may help narrow down the issue, as it appears to have been introduced in a newer firmware version.

I’m using a Waveshare 1.69” Touch Display (V2 sticker on the back) together with a 9V-to-5V DC converter.

The controller works correctly during normal operation. I can change presets, navigate the interface, and everything seems stable.

However, if I leave the device untouched for a few minutes and then try to change presets by swiping on the touchscreen, the device immediately freezes and then reboots itself.

The issue only appears after the controller has been idle for some time. If I keep interacting with it regularly, everything works fine.

My setup:

• Waveshare 1.69” Touch Display (V2)
• 9V to 5V DC converter
• Latest Tonex Controller firmware

Has anyone experienced something similar, or is there anything I can test to help identify the cause?

Additionally, I have experienced exactly the same issue with the 1.69” non-touch version using external footswitches. After the device remains idle for a few minutes, the first attempt to change presets using a footswitch causes the controller to freeze and then reboot.

Hi. I'm not sure what to make of this one. I had another user with freezing display but no reboot, and I ran mine for 2 weeks without any issues.
What is the current rating of the power supply? Some users have found weird behaviour if the power supply is maginal, although seeing as its OK on older firmware, this does seem less likely. Worth a look though.
