Seems to be a faceted STEP file

I gave this a try with a fairly simple shape I quickly made just for testing.

Here is a zip with all the files:

• twisted_vase2_recovered.step - The step file generated by stl2step

This is the command I ran:

./build/stl2step /Users/chriswilson/Downloads/twisted_vase2.x_t.stl --engine trueform

Is this the expected result? From the images in the README.md the recovered step does not appear to ba faceted part.

The engine started as a project for basic geometry (parallel planes, arcs perpendicular to planes, etc... I am slowly working out each individual use case. It's an ongoing project. The latest build, v1.3.0 supports more geometry detection, capturing chamfers and most fillets. It still isn't perfect, will require a lot of training. I will download your .stl and add it to the training folder. The "twist" geometry is something I have not yet done any training for. - when the engine can't pull geometry, it defaults to a solid from the facets for that section. The mechanism I used to get this far will also be a great hurdle for certain types of geometry. It bases the identification of geometry on relationships to planes. - The engine is open source so I am hoping that others will join in to build upon the functionality. - For what its worth, I ran your .stl through v1.3.0 and there isn't much improvement which is what I expected given that it hasn't been trained on this type of geometry yet. You file is now part of my training documentation.
