bitdevs kampala - proposed socratic meeting format

goal

keep the meeting focused, engaging, and welcoming regardless of someone's technical level. the idea is to maximise discussion rather than presentations (can sometimes feel robotic)

time bounds

• target: 2 hours
• hard limit: 2 hours, 30 minutes
• aim to wrap up before 8:00 PM (due to members safety because robbers' open shop around this time or earlier)

1. intros (10-15 min)

a quick round.

• name
• what you are into
• anything new since the last meetup?

gets everyone talking early and lowers the barrier to participating later.

2. wins & progress (20-30 min)

what have you achieved since the last meetup?

could be anything:

• merged a PR
• fixed a bug
• read a paper
• finished a project
• attended a conference
• learned something interesting

celebrate the wins, big or small. members are encouraged avoid going off tangents here because there is a time frame for that just in a later section. brevity is very MOST welcome here

3. what are you working on? (30-45 min)

what have you been building, researching, or struggling with?

if something sparks curiosity, let the conversation naturally go deeper. no need to force everyone through their update if the room is getting value from one discussion.

4. open floor/market - katale (45-60 min)
