Error during install

Describe the bug
Installing Aeon desktop to a Asus Vivobook M1702Q laptop. Install starts but after 10 minutes stops with error.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Start install
2. Wait while message “Write image to disk”
3. See error

I encountered the same error a few moments ago on my own system trying to use xzcat and dd doing a clean install.

I resolved this issue by first unpacking Aeon-Installer.raw.xz using Ark in Dolphin, then renaming the resultant Aeon-Installer.raw to Aeon-Installer.iso. From there, I wrote it to disk using the Linux utility they recommend in the install guide, and everything works flawlessly now.

I have had the same errors. I have just followed the instructions above by @aur0rae and it worked. I used Impression (Flatpak) to create the installion flash drive.

I see the same problem here (same systemd-repart command fails with no visible reason). After multiple attempts, I came to this bug.

I examined the installation media. It must have been modified during the installation. There are recent dates and times. The network configuration persists. The partition has been magically extended to cover the full media. All looks good.

Before my first attempt, I backed up the hard disk content with the vendor supplied OS. This required network access, and I downloaded netcat. Then I didthe backup. Then, after pressing the "Install" button, it must have wiped everything and installed LUKS encryption, then encountered the failure. Now the original boot option is gone and it always asks for a decryption password.

I find it hard to believe that dd would mis-create the installation media, and Ark + another huge tool would do it right. I suspect having network access during installation is the problem.

A fresh install media created this way works.

When it didn't work, it was connected to the internet and modified during installation.

I think you need to share the tik.log file so they can fix the problem.

The author of report #49 has not provided the technical evidence necessary to evaluate and resolve the case. Without the tik.log file there will be no solution and I think the ticket will be ignored.
