Function types don't have argument names, which is why it's complaining.

Something like:

alias XML_ElementDeclHandler = func(ptr, *XML_Char, *XML_Content) void

should fix it.

Function types don't have argument names

This is a very bad idea. Without argument names, you lose the descriptions of what the arguments are. You will only know the types of them. For example, with the code above, you only know the first argument of XML_ElementDeclHandler is of type ptr, but you don't know what the meaning of this argument is.

The reason why is because the names are not part of the actual function type (it wouldn't make sense for them to be).

Like you said though, it would be nice to be able to have them.

However you can always put it in a comment for example without needed explicit syntax support:

alias XML_ElementDeclHandler = func(/*userData*/ ptr, /*name*/ *XML_Char, /*model*/ *XML_Content) void
